Louis & Sack Gallery is proud to present a solo exhibition of Lee Hyun Joung at Asia Now 2025. On this occasion, the gallery will present ten newly created paintings, conceived especially for the event, alongside a unique live performance by the artist, transforming the booth itself into a living, evolving canvas.
Through this gesture, each of her works will be interlaced with her signature ink threads —an emblematic element of her practice—creating a poetic and dynamic environment where painting, performance, and space converge. The threads, which symbolize
continuity, connection, and flow, will extend beyond individual canvases to weave the exhibition into a unified, immersive experience that embodies the essence of Lee Hyun Joung’s artistic vision.
Represented by the gallery since 2021, Lee Hyun Joung has established herself as a singular and poetic voice within contemporary Korean art. Her work, immediately recognizable, is rooted in both tradition and experimentation. She handcrafts her own support, hanji paper, derived from mulberry bark, shaping it through a demanding and meditative process. This organic and living material is not merely a surface but lies at the very heart of her artistic research. It gives her works a unique depth and vibration, where the fiber itself becomes a site of memory, light, and breat.
